2017 - SimpleMind adds contact links and PDF bookmarks import to challenge MindJet MindManager
Mind mapping service SimpleMind announced some new improvements in its Pro version. First is Adding links to contacts that's available on iPad/ iPhone, Android and Mac. It allows to link mind map item to contact in you prone, email or other contact lists. Besides SimpleMind Pro can now import the table of contents of a .pdf on Dropbox on Google Drive. SimpleMind creates a new topic for each bookmark with a link back to that page in the .pdf. This requires an official Table of Contents in the .pdf. Thereby SimpleMind is now more functional in comparison to MindJet MindManager
2017 - iThoughts adds import to Mindmeister and SimpleMind
The new version of mind-mapping app iThoughts is now live. It features Siri integration, Drag/Drop and a new way of marking tasks as complete. There is also a feature called focus lock. With focus lock, you can now keep a bunch of topics in focus regardless of which one is selected. There is a new button in the top corner. If you drag/drop a topic onto it then the topic will be marked as 100% complete - great for check lists. Mindmeister (.mind) and SimpleMind (.smmx) mindmaps can now be imported. The Doodle feature now supports a resize option to resize selected parts of your doodle (see the +/- button in the toolbar.) Doodle also has better support for Apple Pencil.
2017 - SimpleMind adds progress checkboxes to challenge MindNode
The new version of mind-mapping app SimpleMind for all our supported platforms is out. In this release the developers primarily focused on enhancing checkboxes and how they can be used in topics. It now supports progress checkboxes (0-100%) and Roll-up progress checkboxes that automatically calculate the progress by averaging progress of the child topics. Additionally a date can now be set on a topic and there is an additional way to insert a sibling topic where the sibling is inserted before the current topic in the parent. The conclusion is that SimpleMind becomes more progress-focused if compared vs MindNode
2017 - SimpleMind adds tree-view for tasks to keep up competition with MindMeister
A new version of mind-mapping app SimpleMind is available for all our supported platforms. In this release the developers have primarily focused on the outline view, report generation and printing enhancements. Checkboxes are now shown in the outline, thereby turning it into a hierarchical checklist. You can also apply a filter that shows only topics that are checked and/or unchecked. Thereby SimpleMind becomes more visual in comparison to MindMeister
2017 - iThoughts gets compressed layout and costs to catch up with iBlueSky
Mind-mapping app iThoughts got an update for iOS, macOS and Windows. Maps now have a new Style option called Compressed. This will trim back the margins at the edge of topics and also the inter topic spacing in order to present more information on the screen. There is a new task attribute called Cost. This is a simple floating point number that can be attached to a topic. The Cost field also supports rollup which means that the sum cost for immediate child topics is calculated automatically (similar to effort.) In addition to the headline features above, there is a spell check and new keyboard shortcuts (in Windows version). So iThoughts becomes more functional if compared vs iBlueSky
2017 - iThoughts comes to Windows to keep up with iMindMap
Mind-mapping software iThoughts is now available for Windows . It is designed primarily for the desktop/laptop (keyboard mouse) environment - but it does also work with touch. The goal in developing this has been to enable people to work seamlessly between iOS, macOS and Windows. To that end, you can use either iCloud or Dropbox to keep your maps all in sync. Maps will look pretty much identical across all devices (subject to installed fonts etc.) Just like iOS and macOS, the Windows version is an additional purchase. Thus iThoughts is now more Windows-friendly than iMindMap
2016 - SimpleMind integrates with Google Drive, aims at XMind
The new version of mind-mapping app SimpleMind allows to use Google Drive to synchronize with other devices. This is available for all platforms on which Google Drive and SimpleMind work: Android, iPad/iPhone, Mac, Windows. Other new features include diamond and cloud border shapes, rounded corners in angled paths, redesigned Preferences panel, performance improvement for large mind maps, using standard iOS image picker for picking images, ability to pick images from Clouds. SimpleMind also supports Dropbox for maps synchronization. Thus SimpleMind syncs better in comparison to XMind
2015 - iThoughts launched free app for iOS to defeate NovaMind
Standard iThoughts app for iOS costs $10. For those who wants to try it first there is a new free app called iThoughts2go. It is a FREE version of iThoughts (with one small caveat). The caveat is that maps of any size may be viewed - only maps with fewer than 20 topics may be amended. Maps can be loaded into iThoughts2go via email, browser or app sharing. Maps can also be synced automatically via iCloud, Dropbox or WebDAV cloud services. You can also import and export maps to and from many of the most popular desktop application formats: MindManager, iMindmap, Freemind/Freeplane, Novamind, XMind, Mindview Mindmeister, Mindnode, Mindmapper, SimpleMind and MyThoughts.
2012 - SimpleMind - the new Freemind alternative
SimpleMind is a new mind-mapping too that offers $31 desktop version, along with free and paid ($5) Android and iOS versions for working on your mind maps on the go. Vendor ModelMaker Tools managed to keep SimpleMind true to its name, avoiding features such as node tags or complex property sheets. The desktop version uses a very similar editing interface to the mobile one. There's just a single toolbar, and you can do most operations without clicking any of its buttons. To create a new node, just select an existing one and double-click anywhere besides it. To collapse or edit a node, select it and use the quick-action buttons that pop up around it. To ease collaboration, SimpleMind can export and import Freemind files, but that means you can't have multiple people working on the mind map at the same time. In the end, SimpleMind's one distinguishing feature is its mobile app support. If you need to create or display mind maps both on a mobile device and a computer, SimpleMind is a wonderful solution.
